The Arts Department encourages artistic expression
and preserving art as a natural resource.
The three areas of involvement for this committee are:
1) special projects;
2) arts and crafts; and
3) literature and performing arts.
SPECIAL PROJECTS:
Members
and students are encouraged to participate in the photography, short
story and poetry contests sponsored by the Georgia Federation of Women's
Clubs.
ARTS AND CRAFTS:
 Art Contest at Buford High School - This is our
fifth year to sponsor
this contest. The art work is displayed at the local public library.
Buford Senior Service Center - This is our fifth year of stenciling and
filling party bags with goodies for the senior citizens.
Craft project for Seniors - We will have a hands-on project for the
senior citizens.
Ceramics workshop - This offers our members an
opportunity to create a keepsake at a local ceramic shop.
Art instruction - We offer our members an opportunity to work in an art
area which will be new to them.
District competition - We encourage members to enter the competition.
LITERATURE AND PERFORMING ARTS:
School Writing Competition - We offer the local schools the opportunity
to compete.
Shakespeare Tavern Experience - This is our second year to send high
school seniors to the world of Shakespeare at a local Atlanta theater.
Grace Notes - A group of club ladies continue the tradition of musically
entertaining at several different venues.
Art Camp Sponsor - A child will be sent to a summer art camp.
Volunteering at local civic productions - We volunteer to be of service
in this area - ushering, program distribution, etc.
Aurora Theater - We continue to enjoy the local theater productions.
Church Musical Production - We keep a count of the hours the club
members spend in church musicals.
Fine Arts Participation - We continue to encourage and plan trips to
Atlanta theater and art museums.

STITCH GROUP:..

The Stitch Group meets once a month in a member’s home,
10:00-noon. We knit or crochet handmade caps and blankets for
preemies and cancer patients. Lessons are given for those who want to
learn to knit and/or crochet.
