There are five areas of the
Communications Department: Meet and Eat Committee, Public
Relations Committee, Telephone Committee, The Buoy
Committee, and the Webpage Committee
I. Meet and Eat Committee
Members, husbands, significant others, children, friends - anyone - meet
on the last Sunday of the month at The Third Coast Grill, at 6:00 p.m. to
eat a Dutch Treat supper and “smoooooze.” Meet and Eat is a "time out"
from doing noble deeds, it is a time to just mingle.
II. Public Relations Committee
Our future activities are announced in our local newspapers and
newsletters. A Media Book is kept of all published articles.
We have a display in the Buford library which helps keep the community
aware of who we are and what we do and attracts potential members.
An annual scrapbook is maintained that highlights the events
of the year. It's always available to those who enjoy seeing what we do
through a series of photographs.
III. Telephone Committee A telephone tree has been established to advise members of information
needing immediate distribution.
IV. Newsletter
The Buoy begins with a letter from the President. It includes officers’
reports, department reports, introduces new members, a brief life
history of current members, and reports of activities of the club. Personal want ads are accepted. The
minutes of the previous month’s meeting are included in the newsletter.
The names, addresses, e-mail addresses, and phone numbers of all
officers and department chairmen are listed each month.
The newsletter is used as a history of the club’s activities and copies
of it are kept with the club’s records. Copies of the newsletter are
given to all prospective members.
V. Website
The Buford Lanier Woman’s Club has developed a website which gives a
broad overlook of the club and its organization. It is listed on the
Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs (GFWC) website. The address for the website is
www.bufordlanierwomansclub.com.
The website gets updated periodically; some articles from The Buoy get
incorporated into the website monthly. This is a method of getting club
news out to members who have been absent and prospective members.
