The objective of the
Communications/Public Relations Committee is to assist members with
their outreach activities by providing tools that help create a positive
image of women’s clubs, and familiarize members with the federation’s
history, mission and current initiatives.
Public relations is in everything we do,
from the manner in which we respond to a telephone inquiry from a
reporter or a prospective new member, to how we hold a press conference,
and the appearance and content of our printed materials. Our newly
formed committee consists of the following areas:
-
Telephone
– Kathy Johnson
(770-932-6599). Members who do not have an e-mail address will be
contacted whenever there is an emergency or there is news that must
get out immediately.
-
News
Media – Lois Peterson.
Lois sends articles of interest (i.e., special projects and anything
newsworthy regarding our club) to the local media for publication
and also to GaFWC
www.GaFWC.org and GFWC
www.GFWC.org for publishing in the “Club Woman” magazine.
-
“The Buoy,” club newsletter - Linda Ayers.
Linda is the new editor of “The Buoy.” This newsletter keeps every
club member up-to-date on current activities and programs, and is an
indispensable part of our organization. It begins with a
letter from the President, and includes officers' reports,
department reports, introduces new members, and gives a brief life
history of current members. The newsletter is used as a
history of the Club's activities, and copies of it are kept with the
Club's records.
-
Scrapbook – Rosemary Williams.
Rosemary uses her artistic talent to put together the Club’s yearly
scrapbook, which is a graphic history of the programs and
achievements, as well as the social events, of the Buford Lanier
Woman’s Club.
-
Buford-Sugar
Hill Library Showcase – Diana Minnick.
Diana keeps the library showcase updated monthly with Club news and
events and appropriate decorations of the season. The showcase
is a means of informing the public of the Buford Lanier Woman's Club
and the services we provide to the community, the nation and the
world. It also attracts potential members.
-
Website
– Jean Collion, Webmaster.
The web is an important form of communication today from informing
the public about the Buford Lanier Woman’s Club to advertising our
Tour of Homes and publishing the monthly calendar of events.
It gives a broad overview of the Club and its organization. It
is listed on the Georgia Federation of Women's Clubs (www.GaFWC.org)
website.
-
E-mail
– Jean Collion.
Jean is responsible for distributing important e-mail announcements
to all members who have an e-mail address.
